January 2017 has been a rollercoaster ride of creativity and rigorous organisation. A plethora of artistic and communicative media alongside an adrenaline inducing timetable; we turned what seemed like the impossible, into the possible.
One client in particular, briefed us on a multitude of significant opportunities that really kept us on our toes during January. A 30” TV campaign, 2 lifestyle photography shoots, 2 informative product videos, 15 sponsorship idents reflecting the TV campaign, 17 physical packaging and POS mock ups, an 88-page product guide, 100 pieces of artwork for 2 trade shows; all within 3-4 weeks! I think it’s safe to say that we really hit the ground running in 2017.
We kick started with a beautifully updated product guide for our premium cookware client, carefully crafted by our studio and boasting a number of exciting new ranges. The merging of the two previous guides saw us continuously chopping, changing and fine tuning to find the perfect flow and narrative. The copy was brought forward to present day and we dusted the pages with mouth-watering photography, until one day, it was finally complete. 88 pages in total, some old, some new, some borrowed and some blue. You could say it was a marriage between past and present but one thing’s for sure; it’s shiny and new and jam packed full of useful, practical information that the trade will go wild for.
Alongside this new product guide, preparation for two upcoming, world famous trade shows was well underway. Previous months had been scattered and sprinkled with multiple “…for the trade show” projects that all came to a head in January. New packaging concepts for entire ranges were finalised and physical mock-ups created in the form of boxes, labels, strut cards and leaflets. These mock-ups were whisked off to Birmingham and Frankfurt to be exhibited for potential buyers. The trade shows are a great opportunity for our client to showcase their new products and a brilliant way for us to demonstrate the talents of our creative department, the skills and knowledge of our Artworkers and the diligence of our Account Managers.
We were also called upon to design the graphics that dress the Trade Show exhibition spaces and after much scrutiny over a very complex brief, the graphics were delivered with impeccable results. A day trip to Birmingham NEC proved that they really were show-stoppingly great.
Whilst all of this was going on behind the scenes and back of house, the other half of our team were galivanting around Cheshire and The Wirral, photographing two innovative new product ranges for the same client. Utilising our bank of regular locations, we set up shop at a lovely well known kitchen showroom and also at the house of a close personal friend of Oakbase. We captured the vibrant cookware products against crisp clean and bright settings and it really made them pop!
These particular product ranges were also featured in some very sleek and attractive product videos highlighting the technical features and benefits with advanced CGI that hones in on the product specifications. With two purpose built sets and seductively polished panning shots we produced two very eye-catching 30 second videos that will be utilised effectively by a renowned world leader in retail screen promotions. This has formed part of our integrated marketing campaign, which involved social media, digital marketing and PR initiatives.
A super-secretive sponsorship was granted to our client by ITV, and with help from production company Emu, we produced a number of idents, varying in length, that will sandwich a new prime time TV programme in March! We tied this in with the main 30” overarching TV campaign, also going live in March, where we have enlisted the iconic vocals of a British National Treasure. Filmed in a beautiful Victorian house in Didsbury, South Manchester, production was non-stop as we saw the sun rise and set between takes. Our home economist worked flat out to create star-worthy dishes whilst the actors remained professional and engaging throughout. The results were stunning and in perfect harmony with our target market research. With an inspiring social media competition on the way to support this campaign, there are too many reasons to watch this space!
